The Power to Keep Hanging In There

Colossians 1:9-12
New International Version (NIV)
For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you. We continually ask God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives, 10 so that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, 11 being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience, 12 and giving joyful thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of his holy people in the kingdom of light.
~~~~~
Something we should ask the HOLY SPIRIT for
when we pray...
More endurance, more patience, and more joy!
Endurance to bear our tough situations...
Patience to deal with people who torment us...
The Joy of the Lord while facing every trial...
Discussion: Colossians 1: 9-14
 The apostle was constant in prayer, that the believers might be filled with the knowledge of God's will, in all wisdom. Good words will not do without good works. He who undertakes to give strength to his people, is a God of power, and of glorious power. The blessed Spirit is the author of this. In praying for spiritual strength, we are not straitened, or confined in the promises, and should not be so in our hopes and desires. The grace of God in the hearts of believers is the power of God; and there is glory in this power. The special use of this strength was for sufferings. There is work to be done, even when we are suffering. Amidst all their trials they gave thanks to the Father of our Lord Jesus, whose special grace fitted them to partake of the inheritance provided for the saints. To bring about this change, those were made willing subjects of Christ, who were slaves of Satan. All who are designed for heaven hereafter, are prepared for heaven now. Those who have the inheritance of sons, have the education of sons, and the disposition of sons. By faith in Christ they enjoyed this redemption, as the purchase of his atoning blood, whereby forgiveness of sins, and all other spiritual blessings were bestowed. Surely then we shall deem it a favour to be delivered from Satan's kingdom and brought into that of Christ, knowing that all trials will soon end, and that every believer will be found among those who come out of great tribulation.
Leave Your Waterpot and Go Harvest the Fields
The Sermon Preached Today, 11-3-2013 at St. Paul's Community Baptist Church
was taken from JOHN 4: 27-38
27 And at this point His disciples came, and they marveled that He talked with a woman; yet no one said, “What do You seek?” or, “Why are You talking with her?”
28 The woman then left her waterpot, went her way into the city, and said to the men, 29 “Come, see a Man who told me all things that I ever did. Could this be the Christ?” 30 Then they went out of the city and came to Him.
31 In the meantime His disciples urged Him, saying, “Rabbi, eat.”
32 But He said to them, “I have food to eat of which you do not know.”
33 Therefore the disciples said to one another, “Has anyone brought Him anything to eat?”
34 Jesus said to them, “My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me, and to finish His work. 35 Do you not say, ‘There are still four months and then comes the harvest’? Behold, I say to you, lift up your eyes and look at the fields, for they are already white for harvest! 36 And he who reaps receives wages, and gathers fruit for eternal life, that both he who sows and he who reaps may rejoice together. 37 For in this the saying is true: ‘One sows and another reaps.’ 38 I sent you to reap that for which you have not labored; others have labored, and you have entered into their labors.”
 The woman
left her waterpot
went her way
into the city
to witness to men about Christ.
The harvest is ripe and ready for reaping.
There's a harvest in unexpected places, fields where you did not sow. Drop some things you brought with you, go your way to do the will of the Father.
It's alright, and all ready!
Leave that waterpot you came with.
God has met you right where you are to fulfill His will and His purpose, and
prepared the fields that you didn't even plant.
Go, and reap the harvest!
 Leave your waterpot
Lift up your head and walk into
your purpose in the
will of God!
Real Christian Love
 Isaiah 66:13 - As one whom his mother comforteth, so will I comfort you; and ye shall be comforted in Jerusalem.
 1 Thessalonians 2:7 CEB
although we could have thrown our weight around as Christ's apostles. Instead, we were gentle with you like a nursing mother caring for her own children.
New King James Version (NKJV)
34 A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. 35 By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.”
Overcoming Loneliness & Understanding The Need For True Christian Fellowship
"OVERCOMING LONELINESS"    < < -  Read THIS Article
I know that as a Christian, my greatest struggle in my spiritual walk towards reaching the goals that God has planned for my life is simply, isolation and loneliness. The attached article about "Overcoming Loneliness" has outlined my circumstance of what often leads me back into "Egypt" where I am bound or held in sinful captivity or worse, looking backwards towards the place or circumstances in my life that God has delivered me from, such as Lot's wife fleeing Sodom and Gomorrah and being frozen in time and in place being prevented from advancing to the promised land. I have struggled alone and realize the impact of loneliness in my life causes me to open the door to return to the dead weight, and layers of situations which I've struggled to shed, yes even returning like the dog to his own vomit. Responding to my dilemma of loneliness I have sought fellowship with my peers in various churches, yet not one has provided the intimate faithful friendship beyond the moments we share in a service together to equip me with the support I need to overcome loneliness. Still I hold on to my faith in God that this too shall pass, a change is coming, and I am ready. Please read the article attached, and know that there are others who need Christian Brothers and Sisters to fellowship with, to call upon, to socialize with, to share with, and to lean on. This walk is very hard, but as Christians we can be the friend that makes a difference to someone else after shaking their hand in a church service and saying "God Bless You, see you next time!" This is what I know, this is what God knows, and now I expect a change because I have asked God to touch the hearts of my Brothers and Sisters in Christ to become the supportive friends and family He created us to be instead of just attending a Church service, departing and forgetting about each other. To God be the Glory!
Christianity is about CHANGE...
Click Picture For SERMON...
God can choose any man to change and to use for his Glory!
Regardless of any previous background or condition,
whether they be Jew or Gentile, even Pagans, Muslims, and sinners against the Faith, when God chooses to direct your destiny to fulfill His Holy will, no man can deny His sovereignty.
God is God.
Remember Saul of Tarsus, later named Paul, was converted to follow Jesus Christ and to lead others in discipleship after he had been guilty of persecuting Christians.
God is all powerful and we must trust Him to judge remembering His ways are NOT like man.
Didache: Apostles Doctrine/Teachings/Instructions
In the Book of ACTS, the message through descriptive stories are
Accompanied by Signs and Wonders.
The message proclaims the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus.
As disciples we are to boldly lift up the name of JESUS and proclaim who He is.
The Spirit of God is with us and has never left us, New Testament believers.
The indwelling spirit, working through mankind professing Jesus Christ, Lord and Savior, is indeed the Church.
Though often we relate just to our "brick and mortar" buildings as the Church, it is best described as being called out, dedicated to the Lord, united with Christ through spiritual baptism. (1 Corinthians 12:13, "by one spirit we are all baptized into one body")
In the book of Acts we learn how God uses ordinary people to do extraordinary things, and that imperfect persons are used by God to deliver the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Acts 2: 38-47 (New KJV)
38 Then Peter said to them, “Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. 39 For the promise is to you and to your children, and to all who are afar off, as many as the Lord our God will call.”
A Vital Church Grows
40 And with many other words he testified and exhorted them, saying, “Be saved from this perverse generation.” 41 Then those who gladly[g] received his word were baptized; and that day about three thousand souls were added to them. 42 And they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers. 43 Then fear came upon every soul, and many wonders and signs were done through the apostles. 44 Now all who believed were together, and had all things in common, 45 and sold their possessions and goods, and divided them among all, as anyone had need.
46 So continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they ate their food with gladness and simplicity of heart, 47 praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to the church[h] daily those who were being saved.
The church was and the church still IS
We must not differ from these same examples.
The CHURCH must continue and continue in this same fellowship.
John 1:10-12 King James Version (KJV) 10 He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not. 11 He came unto his own, and his own received him not. 12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
SERMON NOTES
originally posted (March 10, 2013)
From the Old Testament we are taught: ( OT )
"He will come."
From the New Testament we are taught: ( NT )
"He has come!"
Jesus...
1) Born in humble circumstances, in humility, in a manger that we might know and understand that God can produce GREATNESS from circumstances, from places not seen as great in the eyes of the people of this world. No matter what your circumstance may be, God has shown how what He makes and calls great depends not on circumstances that the world considers great.
Jesus...
2) Vulnerable yet protected by God. Transported in his youth to Egypt to protect him from the slaughter of the innocence by Herod. During his ministry, regularly threatened by the pharisees and others who despised his message that we might be assured that even though we live in vulnerability, the strength of God is GREAT in our weakness. No Matter how vulnerable we may be against attacks of this world, God is strong and great enough to protect us when we are weak.
Jesus...
3) Experienced emotional pain, was rejected by those he loved, lied about, mocked, scorned, hated, despised, mistreated that we might know and trust that we can go to Jesus with our situations because he knows and understands every one of our sorrows. Jesus knows our every pain. There is nothing too great or too small that He is unfamiliar about, and He cares about all of our situations. No matter what the problem we are going through, God understands them all and we can trust Him with our burdens. He knows and He cares.
Jesus...
4) Crucified between two guilty thieves, during those six hours Jesus promised to the one who believed upon him even as he hung there on the crucifixion cross, "Today, you will be with me in paradise!" that we will know that salvation comes immediately, even at the point of death, we can be saved. No matter what you may be guilty of, as soon as you accept Jesus as your personal savior, it is finished! For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.  John 3:16 King James Version (KJV)
